Our Story
American Health Care Apparel™ has supplied traditional and adaptive clothing and footwear to nursing home residents and senior home health care individuals since 1985. Our family has served adult senior customers for over 70 years since opening The Surprise Department Store in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1929. Our mission is to make dressing senior citizens that have limited mobility and decreased dexterity an effortless task, rather than a burdensome chore.
Our Traveling Clothing Store started in 1985 when our president, Howard Gordon and his team, took the Surprise Store on the road and rebranded it as American Health Care Apparel/ClothesForSeniors.com. We traveled to 7 states with our truck, visiting nursing homes and showcasing new clothing, footwear and accessories for residents.
Since the COVID Pandemic, visits to nursing home facilities were severely curtailed for families, visitors and vendors. Due to this factor we reinvented our business model by ending our Traveling Clothing Store, and started providing a Virtual Shopping Experience. Instead, every nursing home resident in the country can now connect with us through Video-Chat, allowing you to choose from thousands of items of new clothing, footwear, and accessories from our large warehouse. This is a very interactive, fun, and enjoyable activity for nursing home residents and staff.
